Nature is on Tiptoes

Farewell to the blossoms.

1st November, 2009

This morning has the quality of mist – like a cat’s fur without the cat, or cherry blossom without the tree. Still, silent, and soft, nature is on tiptoes, quietly breathing, nothing else.

All I feel from the tree is its relief. Such relief! The flowers are all but gone, a few tufts remain. A couple of hot sunshine days brought on the leaves, and withered the pink, which is now everywhere below.

The tree is in love with its leaves! How hard it worked, all alone without them for so many months. The woody winter and the effort of blossom, now it rests as the wonderful, multiple, kindly leaves bring nourishment, do the breathing, pull up water, let water go. They are microcosms of industry and processing, yet all they must do is be. And with so many, the task is shared.

The work team of kindly leaves has arrived, and the tree can relax and enjoy. They are back! It is happy.

Spring is fulfilled.
