A rainy mood

Water dripping on a much grander scale in Plitvice National Park, Croatia.

August 12th, 2009

I went early today. I woke very early, as if having learnt my lesson. I went straight to the tree after chanting the morning mantras, before showering.

It’s eternally wet – rain falling day after day, night after night, for months. I squatted there, surrounded by drips, feet pressed into the sog. I chanted.

I heard the early morning sounds of a few birds waking, a cock crowing, hum of a truck somewhere, drips of water, felt a slight cold breeze and the tree was silent, introverted, maybe asleep, or having a rainy mood. That’s what it felt like, a rainy mood: sick of the cold and wet, and feeling a bit down. I hope my visit helps.

I went outside. The door slammed behind me.

The tree ignored me completely.
