The feet, our roots

Will they ripen now that the weather is cooling down?

9th March, 2010

The weather has turned cold, as it always does when the tomatoes start to ripen.

I noticed my feet avoiding cold contact with the concrete path, and thought about the importance of the feet, our roots, their energetic strength, the reverence accorded them in India. They move across the earth, coming and going from its surface, while the tree’s roots move noiselessly underground in their hidden world, affected by cold and warmth, but bound to that experience, no chance of escape.
