I felt our secrecy, our privacy
Puja at a Shiva temple in India, where many people come and go.
9th February, 2010
I was a bit late. The day was moving into rajas, action. Two people walked by as I stood with my offering. They did not look or see, but they were going about their business of moving from A to B, and they cut through the sattva, the soft harmony. I felt our secrecy, our privacy, the limited field the ritual creates down here, while just up there in the street, they are unconscious.
In India the worship, the puja, would be open and normal. There, the sattwa of puja and rajas of daily life can openly co-exist and interact. Here, not so.
